Hi, everyone! Welcome to ChibiWorld, a website orientated around the Chibi style character design! I put this site up to let you all know more about Chibis, how they act, when they are portrayed and just how cute they are!

So, what's a Chibi?

"Chibi" is a Japanese word, meaning "small", "short" or "child". This is the best way to describe these characters, as unlike their naturally proportioned (or, sometimes not so naturally!) counterparts, Chibis are very short, and behave in a childlike manner. It may be more than a coincidence that "Chibi" sounds a little like "chubby", as when the characters are in Chibi form, they sometimes look a little chubbier than usual, but this just adds to the cuteness.

Why did I choose Chibis?

Chibis are featured in an entertainment medium that happens to be my favourite style: the Japanese style of cartoon animation (Anime)! Whereas the style usually uses the (usually) naturally proportioned characters, Anime sometimes switches to the Chibi style to portray humour and cuteness. There are even some anime that seem to use Chibi as the standard animation and sometimes convert to regular style! I have always loved Chibis and when they are portrayed in anime, you can usually hear me laughing my head off as they complete their humorous purpose! As you can imagine, Chibis are also easier to draw than their naturally proportioned counterparts.
